Miami served once again as the lively backdrop of an evening full of lifestyle, entertainment, and great food. Groot Hospitality hosted Netflix as they celebrated the premiere of their new show Griselda, starring Sofia Vergara. The show which premieres on the streaming platform this Thursday chronicles the life of Griselda Blanco, a queen pin that set the bar on the feats and laws a cartel leader could break.
Griselda Blanco, also known as, the Godmother of Cocaine, was a prominent figure in the drug trade throughout the 70s and 80s. Sofia Vergara plays her in the upcoming series. Many critics say her ability to adopt and adapt to such a role puts her in her "Tony Soprano moment," claims the New York Times. The show which Vergara pitched to Narcos show runner, chronicles the life of Miami's legendary drug trade. While we do not condone the industry it is a part of history that television allows us to confront and reflect on.
